"Silver?" Kazi asked.
The young child looked up, "Yes?"
"What would you like to do?"
The half Ninetails girl just shrugged. Kazuma stepped in, "Would you like to spar? I'm really interested in seeing what jutsus you know."
Looking up, crimson met stormy blue. "Okay." The genin offered her hand to the student and helped her up.
Silver stood at one end of the ring while her opponent took a defensive stance at the other end.
The genin pulled out a few kunai and threw them at the child, who threw her own kunai, stopping the oncoming projectiles. It was then that the child noticed the two shuriken hiding in the shadows of the kunai, but it was too late to stop them. The girl jumped to the side, but not without a few scratches.
Kazuma made some hand signs while her opponent was busy with the weapons. When it looked like she was blowing air at the girl, a small fire ball appeared and flew towards the child.
Silver looked up to see the fire. Her eyes grew wide as chakra engulfed her, it created a shield against the fire, but she was still sent flying back into a tree. A shadow was cast over the child, who looked up to find a pair of stormy blue eyes looking back at her. "Are you alright?"
"Yes." she replied meekly.
"Would you like to continue?" The child nodded and pulled out the one kunai she had left. The older girl saw this and quickly used a few hand signs, when the kunai hit the older girl, she vanished and a log stood in her place. The girl jumped back as two more shuriken landed at her feet. She was trapped. If she moved, she would be attacked, if she didn't she would be attacked.
The child's crimson eyes closed as she thought of a plan. "That jutsu." she said under her breath. Her hands slowly came together to form the signs the had just seen Kazuma use. Her mind focused on a tree branch as her eyes closed. When they opened again, she was no where near the other two.
A kunai scratched the child's leg, or at least who they thought was her. The girl vanished in a poof of smoke. There was a set of sudden gasps. Kazi looked around and thought,
Silver didn't know that jutsu, did she copy it from Kaz?
Looking around, the child saw she was in a heavily wooded area and there was no sign of water. "Where am I?" Silver heard a sound in the distance, it sounded like a girl crying. Being soft hearted, she headed towards the sound and found a girl.
The girl had reddish-orange hair and fox ears coming out of the top of her head. Her face was buried between her knees, so Silver couldn't see her face, but she hated seeing anyone cry. "Hello?" she called to the girl.
Crimson eyes, full of tears looked up at her, "Hi..."
The child walked over to the other child, "Are you okay?"
"No...The elders told me I'm of no further interest to them...and now they're ignoring me...They've always told me I'm extremely important to them and now I'm not...it doesn't make sense."
"That's not fair, they shouldn't have dropped you like that." Silver sat next to the girl. "Oh, by the way, My name is Silver."
The girl looked up, "It's nice to meet you, I'm Serena." She wiped her eyes clear of tears and smiled at her new companion, who smiled back.
Meanwhile....
Kazuma jumped down in front of her sensei, "I can't find her."
"Where could she have gone?"
"I don't know, but she used way too much chakra on the jutsu, she could be miles away."
Kazi sighed, "I know and that's what concerns me. Kaz, you head back to the village and see if she heads back there. If she's lost she'd find her way there." The younger ninja nodded and did as her sensei told her.
The rays of sunlight started to get longer and the sky was filled with color. Serena looked up, "We should head back."
"How do we get back?"
"You don't know?" Silver shook her head. "Well, fallow me and I'll show you." The two girls stood and returned to the village.
Kazuma stood at the gate looking for missing girl. She heard voices in the distance, "So you've only been here a week?" "Yep, what about you?" "I've been her for as long as I can remember." "No wonder you know how to get around here." The two voices laughed.
Her stormy blue eyes strained to see who the voices belonged too. Two similar figures appeared one of which was who she was looking for. "Silver!" The genin ran towards the two. "I'm so glad your okay, we couldn't find you anywhere."
"I'm sorry, but I was lost, then I found Serena and she brought me back."
Kazuma's gaze turned towards Serena, "Thank you for getting her back. We knew she'd get lost without good help. Oh, how about we all go get something to eat. Sensei can cook really well."
"Okay." The girls grinned.
Kazuma took them back to Kazi's apartment and knocked on the door, it opened slowly. "Yes?"
"I told them that we should come to Kazi's Kitchen."
The sensei sighed, "Alright, but you're doing dishes." All three girls laughed as they walked inside, to eat and discuss the events of the day.
The next morning, Silver was sent back to the academy and was surprised to find Serena in the hall waiting for her. "Hi Silver!"
Slight shock was evident on the new girl's face. "Serena?"
"I decided to sit next to you in class today. How's that sound?" Both girls smiled at each other and walked into class.
The sensei was surprised to see Silver in the class. "Class, The girl next to Serena is Silver Kayou. She is a new member of the village." The students turned to look at her and she shrunk down in her seat slightly. "Okay, now we shall start. Can any of you tell me what chakra is?" None of the students really felt like they needed to answer that, seeing as every ninja in the village knew the answer.
Silver felt a sharp jab in her side and jerked slightly, before looking around and seeing everyone leaving. "What happened?"
Serena looked at her, "You fell asleep, but you didn't miss anything. Sensei was just telling us what chakra was, again."
Yawning, child stretched as she slowly stood from her seat, "Okay."
"Come on, let's go play." The other child said before grabbing the arm of her new friend and racing off with her.
***One year later***
"How could you!" the girl said with tears streaming down her face.. "You took everything from me!"
"Serena? What are you talking about?" the other girl asked.
"Before you showed up, everyone loved me, they worshiped me. Then you came and they abandoned me. Now I know why." Silver was very confused as she waited for Serena to continue. "You see, I over heard the elders, they said that we're twins and they took me away at birth, thinking that I had The Black Fox sealed inside of me, but then they found out you had it and now they hate me! This is all your fault!"
"Serena..." the younger of the two was close to tears herself.
"I don't want to hear it! I'm leaving this village and you!" The girl tore off.
"Serena!" Silver lunged forward. A hand wrapped around her arm holding her there.
Looking up the six year old saw what she now knew of as Shinobi No Mono, one of the elite ninja. "We can't let you leave." a voice stated.
She struggled against the person, sobbing, "SERENA! COME BACK! SERENA!" The expression on her face was none other than exasperation, "Please come back..." she finished softly, knowing it was pointless. Her sister was already long gone. While the ninja began the process of dragging the struggling girl back to the village.
The elders were in the middle of a meeting, when a knock was heard at the door, along with muffled sobs. "Enter." Someone called. The double doors opened, revealing a Shinobi No Mono and a very distraught Silver. "What happened?"
"Serena has left the village and Silver tried chasing after her, but I stopped her." The shinobi replied, never removing the mask.
"Very well, you may leave." the ninja nodded before leaving. The attention of the council now turned towards the six year old. "Silver?" she heard them, but didn't care, she just lost her best friend and sister and wasn't able to do anything about it. Worst of all, it was their fault, they shouldn't have let her feel abandoned and even now they didn't seem to care that she had left. "Silver, stop crying. Your tears are futile."
"It's your fault." Her voice was low, barely above a whisper, but they all heard her. "All of you are the cause of this."
"You can not blame us for your sister's decision."
Her eyes rose to the owner of the voice, the head of the council, "You drove her to that decision and now you don't even care!" She was hurt and taking all of her pain out on the man. "When you found out I held Aisu, you didn't care about her anymore! She lost her purpose in your book and you did nothing for her, but left her to care for herself!"
The kage watched the girl from his seat next to the head. A new flood of tears was just now starting to pour out of her eyes.
'She's still this mentally unstable after a year?'
"You are correct, we didn't care for her any longer. It was wrong of us and we apologize."
"It's not me you should be apologizing to! You should go find her and beg her to come back!" Yelling at the council was one thing, they knew she was upset and made no move to stop her emotional outbursts, but telling council to do something was a different matter.
"We shall do what we think is best."
"You mean what is best for yourselves! Not for others!" With that said, the child ran out of the room.
"Tekeshi."
A Shinobi No Mono appear in front of the council, kneeling with his head down, "Yes sir."
"Follow the child, make sure she doesn't try to run away. You will be her sensei from now on."
"Y-yes sir." said man was confused by the sudden order, he was the Captain of a Shinobi No Mono Squad, he didn't have time to train a genin, but didn't argue as he vanished from the room.
'Silver Kayou, holder of The Black Fox, Aisu. Daughter of Seishou Kayou and Tanrei Trellex, human user of the Trellex. Sisters, Serena Kayou, twin missing nin of our village, Serendipity, deceased younger sibling. Born November 29th. Age six, genin.'
Tekeshi recited what he knew of the girl in his head.
'Known associates, Kazi Kenshou, Kazuma Kaji, Ari Kayou, Serena Kayou, Charka Kayou.'
The sound of crying caught his attention, stopping on a tree branch, he spotted his target. The child sat on the edge of a cliff a few miles away from the village. Her head was buried in her knees while her arms were wrapped around her legs. He could tell she was still crying, even though the sobbing had stopped, she still shook. Jumping out of the tree, he walked up next to her. "What do you want?" she asked coldly.
"I'm supposed to watch over you for now." he stated.
"Do they think I'm going to run away too? I have no where to go, no family, no friends, everything has been taken from me." Her voice was growing colder by the second.
The shinobi sat next to her, before removing his mask, revealing his bright red hair and soft green eyes. "Silver, the only way you can fix all this is to do something about it." He stared off into the distance as he spoke softly.
"It's all my fault, I can't fix it." From her tone, he could tell their was no changing her mind. "It's my fault for being born."
He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, this is why he didn't want to be a sensei. He never understood children. "Seeing as theirs no convincing you otherwise. I suppose I should at least introduce myself. My name is Tekeshi, I am the Captain of the Red Opps also known as Shinobi No Mono Squad 9. By order of the council, I am also your sensei."
This last part made the child jump up and stare at him, "Th-Th-They can't do that!" Her eyes were wide and scared, "Can they?" this last part she let the fear flow into her words.
Looking up at her, he nodded, "You can call me Captain or Tekeshi-sensei. It's your choice. I only hope you can keep up. I will not stand around and watch you 24/7 to make sure you're learning correctly. I will explain what it is I'm trying to teach you and show you only once. Are we understood so far?" The child nodded hopelessly, "You will also be moving into the Headquarters with my team." he stood, "We shall stop by your uncle's to retrieve your things."
"Okay." her head was hanging low, knowing she didn't have a choice.
Tekeshi launched himself into the trees, he stopped for a moment, but realized that Silver was already moving on ahead. It only took him a few seconds to catch up to her, but he wanted to test her speed, so he took off a little faster. She easily kept pace.
'Well I don't have to worry about her falling behind.'
They continued to speed up in this manner for quite a while.
"Tekeshi-sensei!" she cried as she felt the nothingness beneath her.
Spinning around at the sound of his name, he sped towards the falling girl, catching her before landing on the forest floor. "All you alright?" he asked the child, still in his arms. She nodded and he gently set her down. "What happened?"
"I misjudged my distance and used too much chakra, overshooting myself from the branch I had planned to land on."
"You're not used to traveling that fast." It was more of a statement than a question. She nodded, "You shall be trained in that."
