The wind blew sharply against her face, never before had she run this fast, but she had to keep running. I can't kill a human, I can't! Movement to her left caught her attention, she turned to look at it, when she saw a woman running towards a small clearing in the woods. The house was hers. "It can't be..." the girl stated in disbelief. The woman froze, when she saw a small girl covered in blood on the doorstep, crying her eyes out. Bodies were lying all around. Silver could only watch as the girl was picked up by a man and taken inside, while the woman got a look of menace on her face, before following. Shortly after, the child ran back outside, "No..." Silver yelled, "It can't be! This is all just a bad dream!" The woman came out and Silver could only watch as she was strangled, then dropped.
A figure paused next to her, but she was too scared to take notice of who it was, "This was what I saw that night." A Ninetailed fox suddenly appeared in the picture.
She could only watch as the rows of massive teeth crunched down on who she knew was her mother. "Stop please! I can't watch this!" the girl cried.
A voice she knew spoke, "Keji, you don't have to show her this."
"I do Aisu, she needs to understand something."
"I'll let you continue for now, but if this doesn't have a point, you will suffer."
The fox smirked as he felt Aisu's presence vanish.
"Silver, do you know who I am?" she shook her head. "I figured as much. I am Keji Kayou. Not really your uncle, but your godfather. I was the second in command of the Kayou clan. Upon his death, it was my job to take charge, until you reached an appropriate age. There were somethings that took place to change all that though."
"Why did you show me this..." her head was tucked between her knees and she shook terribly.
"So you can understand why we kill. All ninja must learn to kill. It's something you shall experience too."
"I can't do it! I can't!" her eyes locked with his, horror stricken.
"You shall learn now." Suddenly, she was back against a wall, with the ninja, who tried to kill her. Just like before, he held her throat and the kunai was stuck to her chest. "You must kill him, before he kills you. This is how you must learn."
The ninja pulled the kunai back, before thrusting it at her heart, "This is all a dream, it's all a dream." She felt the cold metal pierce through her skin. The pain was overwhelming. She screamed as the ninja dropped her. She watched as the blood spilled out of her chest. The girl wished she could die. "Just kill me, don't do this to me."
"Again." the fox stated, the pain was gone and she was back against the wall.
"No!" she looked around for the fox as the kunai was pulled back, it came towards her once more. She clenched her eyes shut and felt her muscles move on instinct. Her right hand clung to the ninja's hand with the kunai, while she felt a warm substance on her left. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw her hand was plunged into the stomach of her attacker.
She screamed as she was dropped to the floor and pulled her hands back. Silver watched as the man's eyes slowly became dull behind the mask. "No, no, no!!!"
"Very good." the fox said. Then she was standing in the middle of the woods.
She was free from his world, but still felt the blood on her. She raced back to the Headquarters. Flying through the door and up the stairs into her shower. The water was freezing, but she didn't care. Grabbing the soap, she scrubbed her arms. "Get off, get off!" she yelled.
Kali heard the girl yell and knocked on the door, "Silvy-chan? are you okay?" The sound of crying got her attention. "I'm coming in!" The blond opened the door and raced inside. "Silver?" She saw the girl sitting on the floor in her shower, the water was running. Kali could tell that the clothes she never took off, were making her colder. "What happened little one?" she asked as she sat down on the floor with the girl as she turned the temperature up.
"My hand was inside of him...I killed him...I killed him!" she was set off into another fit of tears. Kali could only hug the child, not knowing what really happened.
**********
Completely worn out by her tears, Silver fell asleep. It was only then, that Kali lifted the girl into her arms, wrapping her in a towel so she could dry off and put her in her bed. "What happened to you Silvy-chan?" she asked softly as she closed the door behind her.
"Kali?" a male voice asked. "What happened?"
"I was getting ready to ask that myself." the blond turned and glared at her Captain. "
"What do you mean Kali?" Tekeshi was truly curious, but knew Kali was blaming him for something.
"I killed him? I killed him? My hand was inside of him and I killed him? What were you thinking? How could you have her do such a thing!" the blond was very close to yelling, but knew that Silver was asleep.
Fox poked his head out of his door, "What happened?"
Tekeshi turned to Fox, "What do you mean what happened? I asked you to prepare her for a kill not to actually kill!"
"I did no such thing. All she did was kill a rabbit and I told her of the mission she was assigned, then she asked to leave, which I let her do. I returned her directly after that." the master of interrogation thought for a moment, "It must be something that happened while she was alone. I'll go survey the area to see if any bodies turn up."
"She wouldn't just kill, it's not something she can do." Kali stated in disbelief.
Takai appeared in his doorway, "Hmm...well, Silvy-chan does have two Ninetailed Fox sealed inside her, do you think they have something to do with this?"
Suddenly a scream was heard from behind the door, "Silver!" Kali yelled as she ran into the door. "It won't open. Silver! Are you okay?"
"No! Don't make me do this again, please!" they heard the child cry.
"If you do not you will experience the pain of death again and again. Now let's begin." a male voice stated.
"Leave her alone!" Tekeshi yelled as he slammed his fists against the door.
"If he's doing this to her, then there's nothing we can do. She must fight this nightmare alone." Takai stated coldly as he appeared in his doorway.
"What do you mean there's nothing we can do?" Kali yelled at him as she shook him violently.
"As the leader of the Kayou's he trumps us. We have no authority to interfere, nor do we have the strength to break through a seal that powerful or did you not notice it?"
Kali paused for a moment before her eyes widened, "We can't get in." Takai shook his head.
Kali began to cry right along with the little girl. Tekeshi hugged the blond as she sobbed on his shoulder. "We have to wait."
*********
Silver stared at her hand, the blood was there, she could see the red liquid dripping from her fingers, smell it's vial stench and hear each drop hit the cold stone floor. "Very good, the voice stated, now close your eyes." She couldn't fight the voice, for she was in it's world, so she did as it said, "Now, do you feel the warmth surrounding your fingers?" She nodded. "The dripping sounds like nothing more than water does it?" She nodded again. "Now, when you open your eyes, you will have to fight for your life. Do you understand?" The child nodded and slowly opened her eyes.
This time, she wasn't in the room, she was in the woods, surrounded by enemy ninja. "They wish to kill you child, will you die or will you fight?"
"I will do more than fight, I will kill." she stated, though voice sounded dead. She flexed her claws as the ninja lunged at her.
********
"You have passed the test child, now you shall be free from your nightmares." the voice stated as the seal on the room dissipated.
"Silver!" Kali yelled as she ran to the girl's side and wrapped her arms around her.
"Yes, Kali-sempai?" her voice was dull.
"Look at me Silvy-chan." the blond told her as she pulled back from the child. The girl turned her head to meet the fearful blue orbs. The bright glow that had filled those red lights was now replaced by a dark and hazy cloud. "Silver..."
"May I go to bed Kali-sempai? I have a mission I must carry out." The older girl could only nod, there was nothing else she could say, the child seemed dead.
*********
She just...seems so, dead." Kali stated softly. Tekeshi could only nod as they sat on the couch.
"Sensei?" a young voice asked as the man turned around, "May I obtain the mission details?"
"Silvy-chan, you don't have to do this right now." Kali pleaded.
"It is my mission." the child stated.
"I'll be going with you Silver." A male voice said from the doorway of the lounge.
The child turned and nodded at the man, "Takai-sempai."
He turned, back facing towards her, "Let's go." Silver followed him down the hall and out the door.
"Will she be alright?" Kali wondered aloud.
Tekeshi sighed, "I'm more worried about Takai."
"Captain!"
"Kali, whatever Kayou-san sent her through, killed whatever emotions she still had, she'll be just fine with this mission, but Takai..." The blond nodded, she knew her captain had a point, but she didn't have to like it.
